Our HighFit programme is designed to challenge riders year 9-13 and is delivered in a social fun environment which develops tenacity, consistency, and resilience. Riders pay a one off fee to access the following sessions for the term. They can attend as many or as little as suits their busy lives. The fee varies from juniors to seniors as seniors are offered more sessions and time. In the event of a session not being able to go ahead because of rain. The coach will send out an off bike strength session for riders to complete to ensure steady progression throughout the winter months.

HighFit sessions are spread around the city and consist of high intensity interval sessions, endurance rides, intensity trail sessions and tie in club and local events to focus on specific progression as riders grow. Riders can pick and choose which sessions they wish to attend.

Unlike the other T2 programmes HighFit goes for 10 weeks. From 2nd of May until 8th July. If a session can’t go ahead due to poor weather then riders are sent out a bodyweight exercise to do at home. This ensures you get a full 10 weeks of training in.

We sprinkle in some “how to train” along with “what and when to train”. The schedule slightly differs for Juniors (Year 9 & 10) and Seniors (Year 11, 12 & 13).

Juniors year 9 & 10

Junior Coordination on road – Monday Oropi 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

Junior Endurance – Tuesday Historic Village 6.00pm to 8.00pm.

Junior Strength off road – Wednesday Oropi 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

Junior Endurance – Thursday Summerhill 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Seniors year 11 – 13

Senior Strength off road – Monday Oropi 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

Senior Endurance – Tuesday Historic Village 6.00pm to 8.00pm.

Senior variable intervals on road – Wednesday Oropi 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

Senior Endurance – Thursday Summerhill 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Senior Explosive Power – Friday Oropi 5.30pm to 7.00pm.

Prerequisites

  1. Rider is current Mountainbike Tauranga Club Member.
  2. Rider able to ride Grade 4 trails or higher.
  3. Rider has suitable equipment including riding lights.
  4. Rider has appropriate level of fitness and commitment.
  5. Rider is Year 9 – 13.
