Adult Skills

Overview

If you are after a variety of skills sessions at an affordable price from knowledgeable and experienced coaches then Adult Skills is the right place for you. We aim to deliver engaging thorough Adult specific Skills Sessions to identify and minimise bad habits and teach correct, safe and confidence building riding techniques. This is a process, not something that is mastered in one or two sessions, but in multiple sessions over multiple terms on your journey to develop as a mountain biker.

What is the Programme

Term 4 is scheduled to start on the 6th of October.

Objectives – Skill Learning.
Age – 18+
Location – Summerhill MTB Park.
Time – Daylight hours after school.
Sessions are 90 minutes in length.
Each Term has 6 sessions. That’s 9 hours of coaching!

You need to select your grading based on the grading outline below. Once the term starts there may be opportunity to switch groups if you are incorrectly graded if we have space.

When registering you can select the option or options for a session you wish to attend.

Prerequisites

– Rider is current Mountainbike Tauranga Club Member.
– Rider 18+ years old
– Rider able ride Grade 3 trails or higher.
– Rider has suitable equipment.
– Rider understands that Mountain Biking has prevalent risk.

Intermediate Sessions

If you have an understanding of the basics but need help progressing your skills/confidence then our Intermediate sessions will help you to gain a more in-depth understanding. We focus on developing your skills on Grade 3 trails and and touch on the basics of learning Grade 4 trails. 

Sessions plans include:
Bunny hops, steeps, drops, cornering, bike balance, balance techniques, pumping skills, rut practice, bermed/non bermed cornering, and line choice.

Advanced Sessions

If you are the type of rider who finds riding Grade 3s enjoyable, Grade 4s hard and Grade 5s really challenging then the advanced sessions are for you. We want to arm you with the skills and understanding to take on the more difficult trails you come across with a deeper understanding of how to negotiate those challenging features.

Sessions plans include:
Flowing corners, wet weather riding, stoppie rotations/low speed bike movement, technical climbing, technical line choice, manuals, and jumping.
